SUMMARY:White Pine County Fair & Horse Races
DESCRIPTION:White Pine County Fair & Horse Races\nThe White Pine County Fair & Horse Races return to the White Pine County fairgrounds on August 21-23\, with all the fun of a county fair and all the excitement of horse racing. \n**POST TIME FOR HORSE RACING**\nFriday @ 3:00 P.M.\nSaturday & Sunday @ 1:00 P.M. \nIn addition to pari-mutuel betting\, activities include\, 3 days of live music\, BBQ\, crafts\, vendors\, 4H exhibits\, livestock auctions\, and more. Grab the entire family and Visit Ely Nevada for 3 days of fun at the oldest horse racing event in Nevada. \nA safe bet for a fabulously exciting time is the White Pine Horse Races in Ely\, NV.  This iconic event has been taking place since the 1920s and draws thousands of people from all over the country.  Featuring exciting\, live action racing of thoroughbreds and quarter horses; complete with pari-mutuel betting\, bar\, concessions and the County Fair. Post time 3 pm Fri.\, Aug. 16; and 1 pm Sat. & Sun.\, Aug. 17-18. Free admission on Friday. On Sat. & Sun. $5. See you at the Races! Located halfway between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. \nOriginally organized in 1934\, the races were formed by local ranchers and business people in an effort to overcome the depression blues. Some of the people involved in the formation of the races were Bill Goodman\, Frank Calloway and Stan Draper. This group ran the races until 1937 when the county helped by forming a Fair Board. The first chairman of the board was Tom Bath\, a local business owner. A year later\, they would build a new race track and grandstand which is still in use. \nThe White Pine County Fair returns to the WPC fairground on August 19-21\, with all the fun of a county fair. Activities include\, 3 days of live music\, BBQ\, crafts\, vendors\, 4H exhibits\, livestock auctions\, and more. Grab the entire family and Visit Ely Nevada for 3 days of fun at the oldest horse racing event in Nevada. \nPari-mutuel betting is the most common form of horse racing betting. The term actually originated in France\, and literally translates “to wager amongst ourselves”. Unlike most other forms of betting\, the odds are not fixed. Rather than placing a bet against the race track\, like one would with a bookie\, horse racing bettors are wagering against each other. For this reason\, the payouts on a single wager could range anywhere from less than the actual amount wagered\, to astronomical amounts. \nCome down to the fairgrounds early on Friday and check out all the excitement of the Ranch Rodeo.  Contestants compete in events like bronc riding\, barrel racing\, roping\, and even mutton busting for the kids. \nLocated at the White Pine County Fair Grounds on Fairview Lane next to the Marich Softball Complex. \nSee their website for a list of events and prices. \n\nThe 2026 Condition Book(TBA)\nMore Info Can Be Found HERE!

SUMMARY:55th Annual EVFD Fireman's BBQ
DESCRIPTION:55th Annual EVFD Fireman’s BBQ\nAn addition to the White Pine County Fair and Horse Races for 55 years\, don’t miss the 55th Annual EVFD Fireman’s BBQ! \n\nRight now\, firefighters are front and center\, on an intense battleground. From Spokane\, Washington to Millard County Utah\, across Nevada\, and right here at home with our own Ward Fire.\n\n\nWe are incredibly proud\, humbled\, and honored to serve our community and will be forever grateful to all of the brave\, selfless\, and dedicated fire crews that have responded to calls for help here and throughout the Intermountain West.\n\n\n\nThis year\, the Ely Volunteer Fire Department recognizes what an important event the Annual BBQ actually is\, not only for our community but for all visitors coming in to celebrate the Fair Weekend as a time honored and cherished tradition. This one will be more than a meal shared together\, it is a symbol of an unyielding service to our friends\, families\, neighbors\, and out-of-area travelers.\nAs the White Pine Horse Races welcomes residents\, jockeys\, and race fans\, the EVFD will proudly serve dinner to everyone\, from all over the city\, county\, state and country\, making the trek to Ely to enjoy our home and this community experience.\n\nEVFD’s Annual BBQ kicks off the White Pine Fair and Horse Races weekend with a traditional Western BBQ that can be witnessed on how this food is roasted over pit fires and open flame. Our main menu items are beef\, turkey and lamb roasts\, seasoned to perfection\, tied together with our secret ingredients while it cooks in a locomotive sized smoker. Everyone who sees this done is amazed at the days of work and preparation that goes into this long-standing tradition.\n\nAt last year’s BBQ\, we served over 650 people. All of the money raised during this BBQ goes towards awarding scholarships to White Pine County High School Graduates.\nThis past year\, due to the overwhelming support\, we were able to award 8 scholarships to graduates. With the generous support of community organizations and businesses\, we aim to grow this scholarship fund and provide more academic financial support than ever before.\n\n\n\nYOUR support can come in terms of buying $20 Adult/ $10 kid tickets to our BBQ at 5:00pm on August 21st\, 2026 at the White Pine County Fairgrounds or by becoming a BBQ SPONSOR.\nSPONSORS will be provided branding before\, during\, and after the event at the Fairgrounds\, Thank you shoutouts via Social Media and local press\, as well as network emails provided though the Chamber of Commerce.\n\nOne $10\,000 Title Sponsorship is available.\nAlso available are a Beef Sponsorship\, Turkey Sponsorship\, and Lamb Sponsorship.\n\n\nSponsors will be supporting the Ely Volunteer Firefighter’s event and scholarship awards in the 2027 graduating year.\n\n\nIf you are interested in purchasing tickets or becoming a Sponsor\, please email EVFD President\, April Bath\, HERE.\n\n\nTickets can be purchased in advance at the Ely Fire Station 1780 Great Basin Blvd\, delivered locally or picked up at the Chamber of Commerce @ 636 Aultman St.
