On the rich spectrum of folk music McGuire resides decidedly closer to Pete Seger than Peter\, Paul\, and Mary and has spent the last decade and a half drawing parallels between the ethos of punk rock and the spirit of folk music by building community and engaging listeners with his message. The lessons McGuire learned on the road now serve him well in his position of Executive Director at Brewery Arts Center in Carson City\, NV.

Originally the exhibits were on loan or donated through the generosity of the citizens of White Pine County. The McGill Drug Store was donated to the museum by the Culbert family and we are now known as the White Pine Public Museum and Historical McGill Drug Store. \n“We are a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. The museum promotes the diverse stories and history of our area for the education and benefit of all generations. In 1982 a 12\,000 year-old giant Short Faced Cave Bear was discovered in Spring Valley by local cavers and is on display in our museum. Other indoor exhibits include a Lincoln Highway display\, Native American artifacts\, and mining history and geology in White Pine County and Great Basin Area. You can visit the Cherry Creek depot\, a 1 room school house\, log cabins and other outdoor exhibits including mining equipment\, a caboose\, and other artifacts. \n“The Historical McGill Drug Store is a time capsule and remains as it was in the heydays of the town of McGill\, including many products “on the shelf” from many years ago. This is a satellite museum\, and can be scheduled periodically for tours by contacting the White Pine Public Museum at (775)-289-4710. \n“Funding depends on membership fees\, donations\, our gift shop sales\, and grants. Volunteers and two part-time staff operate our museum. School field trips are welcome and can be scheduled by calling the museum. What better way to celebrate your country’s independence than with your fellow Americans? The White Pine County Tourism and Recreation Board invites anyone anywhere to come and enjoy a free\, delicious breakfast to celebrate the independence of our country. \nThis breakfast will take place at the Bristlecone Convention Center located on the southeast corner of 6th Street and Lyons Avenue. \nParade begins at 11:00 a.m.\nThe patriotism of Ely\, Nevada shows through in its annual Fourth of July Parade. \nThe main street\, Highway 50\, is closed off to traffic and at 11 a.m. the fun begins. The parade begins with the American and Nevada state flags displayed by The Pony Express horseback riders. Following the flags\, the Grand Marshall waves to everyone. \nAfter the parade has ended\, there will be games\, face painting\, and booths at Broadbent Park\, where the parade began. The streets are always crowded at this once a year event\, so if you want a great view of the parade\, and the possibility of catching candy or frisbees\, get there early.  Many barbecues will be planned while waiting for the parade to begin\, so be prepared! \nFireworks\nThe fireworks are placed at the end of the day and are launched from the White Pine County Golf Course. \nDiscover more of what White Pine County has to offer by clicking HERE!

The five-piece string band from Salt Lake City recently released their debut album “Beyond The Hills” – a culmination of their best original work to date (joining an original EP from 2022 and a cover EP from 2023)\, and are currently embarking on a self-managed tour throughout the Mountain West. The band’s expansive repertoire and ever-growing sound draws inspiration from all around the world; from reggae to funk\, to traditional and newgrass styles\, they consistently are creating new grooves and genres. \nThe Pickpockets have played sold out shows with notable bands like The Kitchen Dwellers\, Pixie and the Partygrass Boys\, The Fretliners\, Armchair Boogie\, High Country Hustle\, and many more. These shows are made for families\, friends\, and blankets in the grass. \n  \n \n\n\nJuly 27th – Steven Denmark\n\nSteven Denmark Bio:\nSteven Denmark grew up in the foothills of rural Northern California. For as long as he can remember\, music was at the forefront of Steven’s life. Since he was 13 years old\, Steven has been playing in bands\, helping other artists create their music\, and touring the US and Australia. Six years ago\, Steven decided to focus on writing the songs he’d always wanted to. After many failed recording attempts\, and multiple songs thrown out or reworked\, he finally had the songs he felt represented him as an artist. In March of 2017\, Steven ventured out to Nashville TN to record his first full-length record which was released on November 24th\, 2017. In 2019 Steven Denmark was the backing band for Nikki Lane during Stagecoach Music Fest held in Indio\, CA. That same year he also played Stagecoach. Since then and through and after 2020\, Steven has been writing\, recording\, and producing the majority of his latest released work.
