DESCRIPTION:Fears\, Tears\, and Beers 2024\nFears\, Tears\, and Beers 2024 is the enduro format mountain bike event of the season! Pedal your bike to the top of the mountain and then you are timed at specific sections of the course. There will be 2-6 timed sections\, mostly twisty downhills and sprint sections. The sum of the times on these special tests will determine the winner.\n\nThe event takes place on BLM and USFS administered lands under special use permits.\n\nMen’s and women’s events for all classes.\n\nFun Run: Shorter in length and less climbing than the beginner class\, 2 timed sections\nBeginner Class: 17.5 miles\, 2\,300′ elevation gain\, 3 timed sections\nSport Class: 26.6 miles\, 3\,500′ elevation gain\, 4 timed sections\nExpert/Pro Class: 33.3 miles\, 5\,400′ elevation gain\, 6 timed sections\nBe prepared for the weather. We have had everything from hot and sunny to very wet and snowing. \nAfter-party/awards ceremony at Bristlecone Convention Center\nRacers eat free\, others will need purchase wristband for $10.\n\nThe event is also great for visitors. Music and celebrating all day at Broadbent Park. Examine\, buy\, sell\, and trade crystals and sediments from vendors found all over the west.\n\nThere is a $7.00 entry fee which includes access to the museum.\n\nContact the Museum by Phone: (775) 289-4710\n\nContact the Museum by Email: wpmuseumnv@gmail.com\n\n\n\nAbout the White Pine Public Museum\n“Organized by the Ely Business and Professional Women’s Club in August\, 1959. Originally the exhibits were on loan or donated through the generosity of the citizens of White Pine County. The McGill Drug Store was donated to the museum by the Culbert family and we are now known as the White Pine Public Museum and Historical McGill Drug Store. \n“We are a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. The museum promotes the diverse stories and history of our area for the education and benefit of all generations. In 1982 a 12\,000 year-old giant Short Faced Cave Bear was discovered in Spring Valley by local cavers and is on display in our museum. Other indoor exhibits include a Lincoln Highway display\, Native American artifacts\, and mining history and geology in White Pine County and Great Basin Area. You can visit the Cherry Creek depot\, a 1 room school house\, log cabins and other outdoor exhibits including mining equipment\, a caboose\, and other artifacts. \n“The Historical McGill Drug Store is a time capsule and remains as it was in the heydays of the town of McGill\, including many products “on the shelf” from many years ago. This is a satellite museum\, and can be scheduled periodically for tours by contacting the White Pine Public Museum at (775)-289-4710. \n“Funding depends on membership fees\, donations\, our gift shop sales\, and grants. Volunteers and two part-time staff operate our museum. School field trips are welcome and can be scheduled by calling the museum.
