DESCRIPTION:Silver State Classic Challenge 2026\nFor the past three decades\, driving enthusiasts from around the world have gathered on the third Sunday September in the Nevada high desert for the one of the truly most unique automotive events. Traverse 90 to 120 miles of closed\, two-lane public highway\, comprised of long fast straights\, sweeping corners\, blind dips\, even carving through a twisty canyon. The current course record stands at 219.6430 mph average speed\, as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. The best part is\, if you’ve got the nerve\, a little cash\, and a fast ride\, you too can join them to run as fast as you can\, legally\, down a public highway. \nThe SSCC in September is our classic 90-mile\, one-way event\, with additional activities held in Ely\, and the SSCC awards banquet after-party is held at the historic Sam’s Town Casino Hotel in fabulous Las Vegas\, Nevada. \n\nThursday:\nCars will be showing up in town for registration. Enjoy and watch them cruise!\n\n\nFriday:\nParade of cars through the downtown at 5:30pm\n\n\nSaturday:\nCar show and judging at Broadbent Park\, 9:00am-1:00pm\n\n\nSunday:\nHWY 318 closes at 5:00am and doesn’t open until 4:00pm. Become a course worker!!!\n\n\nThe Silver State Classic Challenge\, Inc. is a non-profit corporation with a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and staff who annually host the Nevada Open Road Challenge (NORC) and Silver State Classic Challenge (SSCC) Open Road Racing events on a closed section of Nevada State Highway 318\, renamed by the Nevada Department of Transportation as the Silver State Classic Challenge Highway. \nSSCC events are based on time\, speed\, and distance. Classes begin at 95 mph\, and increase in 5 mph increments up through the 160 mph class\, with a 170 mph\, 180 mph\, and an Unlimited\, top speed class. Vehicles start one at a time\, in one minute intervals against a GPS timing clock\, and attempt to break the beam at the finish line as close as possible to their speed class target time. First\, Second and Third place trophies are awarded to the Driver and Navigator/Co-driver in each class\, based on most accurate elapsed time targets achieved\, as measured by SSCC timing equipment. Trophies are also awarded to drivers of our companion One-Mile and Half-Mile Shootout events\, both held on race weekends in conjunction with our Open Road Racing events. \nAll first-time SSCC participants are considered rookies\, and may enter classes ranging from 95 mph up to 110 mph\, determined by their vehicle capabilities and safety equipment\, and each Driver and Navigator/Co-Driver’s comfort level. All rookies must also attend an SSCC rookie driver school. Line up for the parade will be behind the McGill grade school at 5:30 p.m. The parade will start at 4th and Avenue G and go to 4th and Avenue K where the street dance will begin. There will be locals selling food! The McGill Volunteer Fire Department will have a full bar set up for your enjoyment. Please drink responsibly. The street dance will go from 6:30 p.m. to 11 pm. \nSaturday at the McGill Swimming Pool there will be the annual “Big Splash” town barbecue starting at 11 a.m. The McGill town council has provided free hot dogs and hamburgers for the community. There will also have vendor booths\, a bounce house for all kids to enjoy and other activities. Please remember the McGill Swimming Pool is free and they have they’re big splash for the end of summer with all kinds of games for children. \nSunday starting at 4:00 p.m. at the McGill baseball park we will have our softball game McGill fire department vs White Pine County Sheriff’s Office. There is a $2 gate fee all proceeds will go to the MRA for the ballpark fund. Fireworks will be provided by Great Basin Pyrotechnics at 9 p.m.\, shooting from the Kennecott tailings just below McGill and to the west. From Spokane\, Washington to Millard County Utah\, across Nevada\, and right here at home with our own Ward Fire.\n\n\nWe are incredibly proud\, humbled\, and honored to serve our community and will be forever grateful to all of the brave\, selfless\, and dedicated fire crews that have responded to calls for help here and throughout the Intermountain West.\n\n\n\nThis year\, the Ely Volunteer Fire Department recognizes what an important event the Annual BBQ actually is\, not only for our community but for all visitors coming in to celebrate the Fair Weekend as a time honored and cherished tradition. This one will be more than a meal shared together\, it is a symbol of an unyielding service to our friends\, families\, neighbors\, and out-of-area travelers.\nAs the White Pine Horse Races welcomes residents\, jockeys\, and race fans\, the EVFD will proudly serve dinner to everyone\, from all over the city\, county\, state and country\, making the trek to Ely to enjoy our home and this community experience.\n\nEVFD’s Annual BBQ kicks off the White Pine Fair and Horse Races weekend with a traditional Western BBQ that can be witnessed on how this food is roasted over pit fires and open flame. Our main menu items are beef\, turkey and lamb roasts\, seasoned to perfection\, tied together with our secret ingredients while it cooks in a locomotive sized smoker. Everyone who sees this done is amazed at the days of work and preparation that goes into this long-standing tradition.\n\nAt last year’s BBQ\, we served over 650 people. All of the money raised during this BBQ goes towards awarding scholarships to White Pine County High School Graduates.\nThis past year\, due to the overwhelming support\, we were able to award 8 scholarships to graduates. Take full advantage of a beautiful summer evening. \nAbout the American Discovery Trail: \nYou seek to enjoy nature. You want to understand history and culture. Do it on the American Discovery Trail. \nWith 6\,800 miles between the Atlantic and the Pacific\, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun\, expand your mind\, and strengthen your body. \nAbout America 250 Relay: \nIn 2026\, we celebrate the outdoors and 250 years of American history with the American Discovery 250 Relay. \nThis 6\,800-mile relay from California to Delaware will carry a copy of the Declaration of Independence from coast to coast\, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on the 4th of July and ending on Thanksgiving at the Atlantic Ocean. Join the celebration by participating for a day or more in a relay\, attending some of the locally-hosted events\, or sharing your story of personal growth and adventure. Together\, we commemorate America’s past and shape our future. \nThere are many ways to learn about America. We welcome you as a participant\, sponsor\, or simply an enthusiast who follows the relay from your couch at home! On any given day\, there may be between 5 and 50 participants carrying the baton\, and you are welcome to recruit your friends and neighbors. \nThe relay is a celebration of America and a celebration of the American Discovery Trail — educating people about American history\, culture\, and nature. This is not a sports or athletic contest\, exhibition\, festival\, parade\, or fundraiser. The American Discovery Trail goes past numerous historic sites\, through dozens of ecosystems\, and it is hosted by hundreds of communities. \nThe 35-year-old route passes through lands and trails overseen by numerous state and local agencies and organizations in fifteen states\, the National Park Service\, U.S. Forest Service\, Bureau of Land Management\, as well as near the homes of more than 40 million people. Relayers and participants will be from around the country and also abroad\, with opportunities for businesses\, families\, students\, older residents\, and communities of all types to be involved. \nWe are proud White Pine County has such a large volunteer base for this event\, and great to be along the route!

DESCRIPTION:Lund Pioneer Days 2026\nLund Pioneer Days 2025 begins both on Friday\, July 25th and Saturday July 26th with Team Roping at Lanes Area. On Friday\, look forward to an old-fashioned rodeo with bull riding\, open breakaway\, steer riding\, barrel racing\, team roping\, calf roping\, and much more\, starting at 5:00 p.m. And don’t forget the Western Family Dance at 9:00! \nOn Saturday\, of course\, park and view the Pioneer Day Parade starting at 9:30 a.m. Expect floats\, antique cars\, horses and a variety of entertainers progressing through downtown\, followed by a Special Presentation at 11:00 a.m.\, a BBQ dinner at noon\, plus children’s games and adult horseshoes\, with vendor booths close by. A rodeo in the late afternoon and a fireworks show at dusk end the two-day event in spectacular fashion. \nThis is one of our favorite and historic weekends in White Pine County. Turn out in Lund\, Nevada for the Oldest Amateur Rodeo in Nevada!
