DESCRIPTION:2nd Annual Tour de Schell\nFresh off of the release of the new Ely Gravel Adventure Field Guide\, The Rotary Club of Ely is excited to expand gravel cycling in Nevada by producing the inaugural Tour de Schell.\nA gravel race through Nevada’s copper country. Cyclists will get the option to choose from 3 routes that will showcase some of the finest gravel in Nevada.\nDistances include:\nLong Distance 118 mi. 5\,438 ft of gain\nMedium Distance 81mi. 4\,084 ft of gain\nShort Distance 64mi. 3\,575 ft of gain.\nGPS of the routes and maps coming soon.\nParticipants will be treated to western hospitality on and off the course with food\, drinks\, music\, and activities at the event and things to do throughout the community all weekend.\nFor the complete Race Guide with all the information you will need to maximize your enjoyment at this event\, click HERE!\nTo access the maps of routes and elevation profiles for the 3 different categories\, click HERE!\nThis event comes right off the tails of the recently released Ely Gravel Adventure Field Guide. The first Gravel Adventure Field Guide in the state of Nevada has been long awaited.\n\n\nPer Gravel Adventure Field Guide: \n“The Basin and Range landscape of eastern Nevada represents one of the last frontiers within the ever-evolving American West. Imposing peaks between long stretches of valley floors have served as barriers to large scale development. A nineteenth-century Pony Express rider in White Pine County saw hard days of unforgiving miles. Their courage and determination lives on in the spirit of Nevadan generations that have followed. \nToday\, approximately 80 percent of the old Pony Express Trail travels through Nevada public lands. Over the years\, natural-resource development and recreational access have helped open the Basin and Range of White Pine County to economic opportunity and tourism. The county’s remote location continues to offer adventurers the chance to escape the trappings of modern life and experience the benefits of living\, working\, and playing in a truly rural setting. \nWith the town of Ely leading the way\, off-road adventure riding is helping the communities of White Pine County reimagine themselves.
