SUMMARY:14th Annual White Pine Gymkhana
DESCRIPTION:Gymkhana is an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses. These events often emphasize children’s participation and may be organized by a recognized Pony Club or a 4-H club. In parts of the western United States\, this type of competition is usually called an “O-Mok-See” (also spelled “omoksee” or without hyphenation as “o mok see”) competition\, a term derived from a Native American phrase said to mean “games on horseback.” Very small events with little or no prize money\, designed for beginners or riders at a local level\, are sometimes called playdays. Gymkhana is the word used in most of the rest of the English-speaking world\, including the United Kingdom\, and both the east and west coasts of the United States. \n\n\n\nGymkhana includes timed speed events such as barrel racing\, pole bending\, keyhole race\, keg race (also known as “down and back”)\, flag racing\, and stake race. Some organizations include ride and run\, musical mats\, egg stomp\, $1 bill race or “ride a buck”\, and sack race. \nMost of these events are designed to display precise\, controlled actions and tight teamwork between horse and rider at speed\, and demonstrate many skills such as flying lead changes\, sliding stops and more. Most clubs offer a variety of classes for all ages and abilities of people\, allowing riders to compete at the speed level at which they are most capable and comfortable.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\nWednesday will start with the golf tournament at the White Pine Golf Course followed by trap shooting at the Steptoe Valley Trap Club. A reunion dinner will be held at the Ely VFD Fire Hall. \nThursday\nThursday will kick off with manipulative skills followed by Opening Ceremonies with a motivational speech from a keynote speaker. \nThursday afternoon will have several training opportunities. There will be three training sessions of Forcible Entry prop/breaching\, EMS – triaging mass casualty incidents\, and Wildland Urban Interface. \nThursday will conclude with dinner at the local Elk’s lodge. \nFriday\nFriday will start with the manipulative skills competition with courses continuing from Thursday; followed by 3 training sessions and live fire training going into the afternoon( the live fire safety briefing is a mandatory session for those participating in the live fire training). \nFriday evening will conclude with dinner and horseshoes. \nSaturday\nSaturday will begin with the Firefighter Memorial Parade that leads into the NSFA Business Meeting. \nSaturday afternoon will mark the start of the water fight and monkey drill competitions. \nSaturday evening will conclude the conference with the NSFA Banquet. \nReady to register?\n\nMake sure your NSFA dues are up-to-date.\n\nPrint\, Fill out\, and Mail the NSFA Membership Application; or\nComing Soon!!! Pay your dues online!\n\n\nRegister for conference!\n\nFill out\, Print\, and Mail the 83rd Annual Fire Training Conference Registration Form; or\nRegister for Conference online!\n\n\nFind a Place to stay.
