DESCRIPTION:What better way to celebrate your country’s independence than with your fellow Americans? The White Pine County Tourism and Recreation Board invites anyone anywhere to come and enjoy a free\, delicious breakfast to celebrate the independence of our country. \nThis breakfast will take place at the Bristlecone Convention Center located on the southeast corner of 6th Street and Lyons Avenue. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOld Fashioned July 4th of July Parade\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParade begins at 11:00 a.m.\nThe patriotism of Ely\, Nevada shows through in its annual Fourth of July Parade. \nThe main street\, Highway 50\, is closed off to traffic and at 11 a.m. the fun begins. The parade begins with the American and Nevada state flags displayed by The Pony Express horseback riders. Following the flags\, the Grand Marshall waves to everyone. \nAfter the parade has ended\, there will be games\, face painting\, and booths at Broadbent Park\, where the parade began. The streets are always crowded at this once a year event\, so if you want a great view of the parade\, and the possibility of catching candy or Frisbees\, get there early.  Many barbeques will be planned while waiting for the parade to begin\, so be prepared! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRed\, White\, and Blue Golf Tournament\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1:00 p.m. at the White Pine Golf Course \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhite Pine Golf Course is an 18-hole course which was built in 1928. \nIt has a USGA course rating of 72.3\, which is 0.1% higher than the average for all Golf Courses. \nWhite Pine Golf Course is a par 73 course. It is 6\,843 yards long\, which is 264 more than the average for all Golf Courses. \n\n\n\n\nThere is a $28 green fee $40 with a cart. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n4th of July Fireworks Express\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, July 4 at 6:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Monday\, the 4th of July\, watch the fireworks from the best seats in White Pine County. \nOn board\, passengers have the option to purchase candy\, soda\, and water. They’ll also be able to view panoramic vistas and travel through two tunnels. \nTicket Prices:\nAdults— $39\nChildren (4–12)— $20\nChildren 3 and under ride free \nClick Here to learn more about the Northern Nevada Railway. \nClick Here to visit their official website. \nThe Fireworks Express is scheduled to depart from the Nevada Northern Railway Complex located on the Northeast end of Ely\, just South of the White Pine Golf Course.

SUMMARY:14th Annual White Pine Gymkhana
DESCRIPTION:Gymkhana is an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses. These events often emphasize children’s participation and may be organized by a recognized Pony Club or a 4-H club. In parts of the western United States\, this type of competition is usually called an “O-Mok-See” (also spelled “omoksee” or without hyphenation as “o mok see”) competition\, a term derived from a Native American phrase said to mean “games on horseback.” Very small events with little or no prize money\, designed for beginners or riders at a local level\, are sometimes called playdays. Gymkhana is the word used in most of the rest of the English-speaking world\, including the United Kingdom\, and both the east and west coasts of the United States. \n\n\n\nGymkhana includes timed speed events such as barrel racing\, pole bending\, keyhole race\, keg race (also known as “down and back”)\, flag racing\, and stake race. Some organizations include ride and run\, musical mats\, egg stomp\, $1 bill race or “ride a buck”\, and sack race. \nMost of these events are designed to display precise\, controlled actions and tight teamwork between horse and rider at speed\, and demonstrate many skills such as flying lead changes\, sliding stops and more. Most clubs offer a variety of classes for all ages and abilities of people\, allowing riders to compete at the speed level at which they are most capable and comfortable.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\nWednesday will start with the golf tournament at the White Pine Golf Course followed by trap shooting at the Steptoe Valley Trap Club. A reunion dinner will be held at the Ely VFD Fire Hall. \nThursday\nThursday will kick off with manipulative skills followed by Opening Ceremonies with a motivational speech from a keynote speaker. \nThursday afternoon will have several training opportunities.
