Event options are cross-country ski\, snowshoe\, or fat tire bike!\nWeather is unpredictable in Ely. Sometimes there is enough snow\, sometimes there is barely enough snow\, or sometimes there is none! If there isn’t enough snow\, their will be a Long and Short Course Trail Run\, and a Kids Trail Run that follows the same trails as the cross-country ski events. And there will be a fat tire/mountain bike event that will follow the same route as the fat tire route.\n\nThe Cross-country Ski Long Course will traverse the Birkebeiner Loop (D Loop). The Cross-country Ski Short Course and Snowshoe Course will follow the Connector Trail to the Birkebeiner Loop. The Kids Ski course is an out-and-back on the Shelter Connector Trail. DESCRIPTION:Take It To The Lake Half Marathon & 5k\nTake It To The Lake Half Marathon & 10K takes place on September 18 in the beautiful Schell Creek Mountains outside Ely\, NV and ends at Cave Lake State Park! Bring your family because we also have a one-mile kids fun run!\nAll routes\, but the kids fun run\, are on a dirt road. The half marathon is challenging 6.5 mile run up and over Success Summit (1\,601 ft elevation gain!)\, with the rest all downhill but the last half mile. The 10K starts on Success Summit and a fast downhill (except the last half mile)!\nTrophies will be awarded to the top three male and female in the half marathon\, relay\, and 10K. Everyone gets a race t-shirt and a finisher medal! SUMMARY:Jay Derbidge Memorial Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Jay Derbidge Memorial Run/Walk will be held on August 24th at Veterans Memorial Park in memory of Jay Derbidge\, Husband\, Father\, Rotarian\, and member of our community\, who lost his battle with cancer. The event is a fundraiser for the Ely Cancer Fund and the Lazarex Cancer Foundation. The distance\, 14 Laps around the park totaling 5.44K/ 3.4 Miles\, representing the average distance people have to travel to get cancer treatment\, but certainly not the distance people from White Pine County have to travel. Registration opens at 9 am with coffee and open sidewalk chalk art spaces available to participants to leave a message or kind word for all those touched by the battle with cancer. There will be a presentation at 9:30 am and the run/walk begins at 10 am. \nCost is $39/ adults and $19/kids\, 4 and under/ FREE. Lunch will be provided at 11 am and all participants will get a commemorative T-shirt. Everyone is welcome to come out and celebrate Jay’s life and show their support for the Derbidge family and our community. \nDonation checks can be made out to “Jay Derbidge Memorial” and either deposited at Nevada Bank and Trust or mailed to:\nNancy Herms\n800 Hall Street\nEly\, NV 89301

SUMMARY:Ward Charcoal Ovens Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Ely Outdoor Enthusiasts in their first trail run event on May 18th! This years event will offer a long (4.2 mile) and short (2.0 mile) course. \nThe Ward Legacy Trail (4.2 miles) is an ATV trail that winds through pinyon and juniper trees and climbs for a scenic view of Steptoe Valley and a view of Wheeler Peak at Great Basin National Park. The trails consists of packed dirt\, loose gravel\, and some rocky loose climbs and descents. \nThe Riparian Loop Trail (2.0) is a hiking trail with gently rolling terrain along Willow Creek. This is a great beginner and kids trail run! \nPrices:\nWard Legacy Trail: $25\nRiparian Loop Trail: $15\nPurchase an additional event hat: $15 \nThe event will be chipped timed. Prizes will go to the top male and female for each course. There will be no finishing medals. \nWe are allowing dogs at this event! To make sure everyone has a safe and fun event the following rules apply: \n• Dogs must be on a leash at all times.\n• Dogs must be under control at all times.\n• Kids 13 and under with a dog must be accompanied by an adult.\n• Extendable leads longer than two meters are not allowed on the course.\n• Only one dog per person allowed.\n• Owners must clean up dog’s feces at the start/finish area and on the trail. Take soiled bags with you and dispose of at the finish line.\n• Use common sense when involving your dog in this race. Please do not bring your dog if:\no Your dog is not fit enough to run/walk the entire course.\no Is not leashed trained.\no Does not get along with other dogs\, adults\, or kids.\n• Runners without dogs have the right-of-way. Please make sure there is ample room to pass if needed.\n• Ely Outdoor Enthusiasts is not responsible for any injuries to your dog.\n• Remember not everyone loves dogs as much as we do! Please remember to keep control of your dog at all times.
