On May 10th, 150 years ago the Transcontinental Railroad was completed connecting the nation from coast to coast forever changing the way we moved around the country. Ely will join the rest of the country in celebrating this momentous historic event in it’s own way on May 10, 2019 with live music, train rides, exhibitions, talks and more. The first train leaves at 1 pm and returns just in time for the “Joining Of The Rails Ceremony” where both locomotives will pull up nose-to-nose and a copper spike will be driven just like at Promontory Point 150 years ago. A double locomotive train ride will go out at 4:30 pm and return just in time for a FREE concert at the Freight Barn starting at 6:30 pm with the Bar D Wranglers from Durango, Colorado. The evening will be filled with music, stories, and comedy from the old west.
