Bristlecone Birkebeiner Winterfest Race
The Bristlecone Birkebeiner Winterfest Race is a multi-sport winter event at the Ward Mountain Recreation Area, North Trailhead held on January 14th. Event options are cross-country ski, snowshoe, or fat tire bike!
Weather is unpredictable in Ely. Sometimes there is enough snow, sometimes there is barely enough snow, or sometimes there is none! If there isn’t enough snow, their will be a Long and Short Course Trail Run, and a Kids Trail Run that follows the same trails as the cross-country ski events. And there will be a fat tire/mountain bike event that will follow the same route as the fat tire route.
The Cross-country Ski Long Course will traverse the Birkebeiner Loop (D Loop). The Cross-country Ski Short Course and Snowshoe Course will follow the Connector Trail to the Birkebeiner Loop. The Kids Ski course is an out-and-back on the Shelter Connector Trail. And the Fat Tire Bike course is a loop using the Birkebeiner Loop, Atta Boy Loop, and Revenue Loop Trails.
**It is our priority to keep our participants, volunteers and community safe and we will be following current COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event**
Schedule of Events:
8:00 am – Long Course Cross-country Ski – $40
8:10 am – Short Course Cross-country Ski – $30
8:30 am – Fat Tire Bike – $40
8:35 am – Snowshoe – $30
9:30 am – Kids Cross Country Ski – $15

Medals will be awarded as following:
Long Course Ski/Trail Run – top three male & top three female
Short Course Ski/Trail Run – top three male & top three female
Kids Course Ski/Trail Run – top three kids
Snowshoe Course- top three
Fat Tire Bike/Mountain Bike Course – top three
If you register for a snow or a no-snow event and weather doesn’t cooperate in your favor, we will provide transfer your registration (minus Active.com transaction fee) towards another EOE event.
Ely Outdoor Enthusiasts work closely with the Bureau of Land Management for trail grooming before the event. However, sometimes weather conditions do not allow for optimal grooming conditions.
This event is committed to taking any and all necessary steps to maintain the health and safety of both Attendees and Organizers. Masks and social distancing will be required.
