The Historic Ely Central Theater

Built between 1939 and 1941, The Ely Central Theater evokes the grandure of the Art Deco movement. Originally built as a 725-seat theater, The Central was advertised as “The Finest Theater in Eastern Nevada”. The one story building features its original vertical central neon sign over the marquee. Preserved over the years, visitors still can experience lavish colors, decor, and rich fabrics. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 5, 1993. Visit Ely Central Theater

Since the inaugural Ely Film Festival debuted at the beginning of the global pandemic in 2020, and in spite of Covid-19 making 2021’s festival a fully virtual event, Ely FAM is excited to return again and continue offering an annual cultural and visual arts festival every March. 2022’s larger scaled Ely Film, Art, and Music Festival celebrated the rich film history of Ely and White Pine County, Nevada, showcasing the exquisite beauty of the Great Basin and all of Nevada and the intermountain west. In addition to presenting international films each year, they are proud to stand as the only three-tiered cultural arts festival in the Silver State.
