Morning-
Connect with the Ely story by soaking in the history of White Pine County. Start the day by taking a tour of the East Ely Railroad Depot Museum and the train yard at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. Step back in time and hop aboard a century–old steam engine. The early train takes passengers for a winding ride through the canyons. When you return make a short trip up the hill to the White Pine Public Museum.
Lunch –
Grab a bite to eat in downtown Ely and then walk it off by taking the downtown mural tour, where the county’s history is celebrated through a series of large murals. There’s even a new guided audio tour that gives context for each mural as visitors walkthe trail.
Afternoon/Evening –
After your lunch–time stroll, you could either head up to the Renaissance Village and tour the historic cabins of cultures past while the evening train rolls by or drive out to Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park to catch a mountain sunset and a look at the Italian engineering of the other worldly beehive shaped ovens.
