About The Race
The Take it to the Lake Series consists of a half marathon, 10K and a Kids Fun Run! Run through the remote Schell Creek Mountain Range and end at the beautiful and scenic Cave Lake State Park where you will enjoy a free BBQ and raffle! New this year is a post-race challenge for runners to finish off their race by jumping into Cave Lake and receive a special momento for your courage! If you are looking for a challeging and beautiful location for your next race, this is the event for you!!!

Post-Race Activities
Stay and enjoy the scenery at Cave Lake State Park. We provide a free BBQ for all participants and volunteers. Also, all participants and volunteers get a free raffle ticket for items donated by local businesses! You must be present to claim your item. Trophies are presented to the top three male and female for all divisions, except the kids fun run. Everyone recieves a finishing medal! Added something new…jump in the lake and recieve a special memento!

Half Marathon
Take it to the Lake Half Marathon is beautiful, challenging and very rewarding! This run takes your through beautiful aspen and fir trees and ends at the pristine Cave Lake! The route starts in Duck Creek Basin and climbs 7 miles to Success Summit in the Schell Creek Range, then all downhill until the last quarter mile. The run starts at 7,415 feet, peaks at 8,968 feet. Total elevation gain is 1,604 feet! This route is predominately on a gravel road. To view map and elevation profile, CLICK HERE.
10K
Enjoy the scenery on top of Success Summit where Take it to the Lake 10K starts! This 10K is predominately all downhill on a gravel dirt road, except for the last quarter mile. It ends at beautiful Cave Lake State Park! The run starts at 8,968 feet and ends at 7,292 feet.
Kids 1-mile Fun Run
We also offer a one-mile kids fun run! It is an out-and-back route on a paved road at Cave Lake State Park! All participants get a race shirt, finishing medal, a race bib, and a raffle ticket!

Shuttles:
Depart from Cave Springs Loop Trailhead parking area
in Cave Lake State Park (off of Rt. 486)
Half Marathon (run and walk) & Relay: 6:00 AM
10K: 7:00 AM
All half marathon and 10K participants are required to take the shuttle to the starting lines.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to shuttle departure. Shuttles will leave on time! It takes approximately 25-30 minutes to Travel to Cave Lake SP from Ely.
