McGill Drugstore Museum

Coming into White Pine County from Utah, this trip provides the perfect history loop, which starts with the McGill Drugstore Museum after departing Wendover, Nevada. Here you will find brand names whose luster faded decades ago. Tubes of Ipana toothpaste sits across the aisle from jars of Dippity-Do. Art Tour and Nevada Northern Railway

Follow a detailed map of Ely’s magical outdoor art. You will find masterful works of art from artists around the world who have depicted the history and variety of cultures that shaped his historic mining town in a outdoor setting for all to see.

No visit would be complete without experiencing the town Renaissance Vilage. These homes, built in 1908, have been restored to portray different ethnic backgrounds to show the diveristy of cultures that settled in the area. The French, English, Spanish, Slovakian, Asian, Greek and Italian heritages are all represented.

Continue your trip through a bygone era as you visit the Nevada Norhern Railway Museum. Unlike any rail museum in the country, the Nevada Northern offers visitors a tour through a working rail yard. You will tour th shops and the engine house where over 60 pieces of rolling stock are stored. After the tour, complete your adventure with a ride down the trakc in one of our century-old passenger cars pulled by one of our steam engines. Both coal fired engines are over 100-years-old.

Great Basin National Park

Great Basin National Park is the ultimate in contrast to what some may consider the typical image of Nevada with its snowcapped Wheeler Peak towering over 13,000 feet. You can drive to just over 10,000 feet elevation and see gorgeous views of a variety of wildlidfe and peaceful scenery. At the base of the park you will find the Lehman Caves. Take a 60 or 90 minute guided tour through these unique caverns where you will see an abundance of formations. From the park, you can head back into Utah and take advantage of even more historic locations.
